| Well Still trying to figure the truck out. I put my Tekin Rs ESC in the truck. It's got the same setting as I had it in my single cell WGT car.Now the motor gets quite warm very quick. I had it up to 171 running on my driveway for awhile. As for my asphalt set-up that's a work in progress. I've got 50 weight oil up front and 40 in the back. Lowered all the shocks. Front and rear swaybars. The truck is lowered to the mudflaps in the back just drag. I've got till next weekend to get it right to race.till then. Top of page... |

| The issue with motor heat is probably the timing boost. You are now running double the voltage so the timing points need to be doubled. I run my Mamba with cheat initiation at 6200 rpm and maxing out at 34000. When I ran 1s (WGT) those were 3000 to 16000.
To make the truck handle better on asphalt or carpet without jumps you need to limit shock travel. Try the old trick of fuel line tubing in the shock as a up travel limiter. You only need a 1/4 to 1/2 inch per wheel. This was what I did back in the old days of gearbox class on carpet. Top of page... |

| Well when I built the truck I used the 1/8" axle spacers in the shocks. When I had a Traxxass I used the fuel tubing but it did not hold up.I've got front and rear sway bars installed. I've also used the Buggy front springs to lower the frontend. Forgot I already said this earlier. Also I'm using the TekinRS and thanks for the advice on the setting. The motor is set at zero and I went to a smaller pinion but it still gets hot. So I go to the hotwire if i can get it to work.
On the other front my corally WGT will be out soon. And I'll be runing it with the NEW Novak. Top of page... |

| The timing change will probably help the temp a lot. You are ina sense running at full advance all the time.
A friend of mine has put in the new LRP SXX. It appears to be a very good unit. He has great speed and power with a total of 10 power profiles. It also does not need a booster or reciever pack when running with a 1s pack.
On your truck, I think you need more than a 1/8 spacer. The up travel of the chassis really need to be limited. I say that with the Slashes on carpet. Top of page... |

| I meant the 1/8th inch axle spacers. The mud flaps are now just dragging the ground.Acutally I took my Tekin RS out of my WGT car because I have the new Novak 1cell ESC coming for the new Corally 10SL coming.
As for the timing on the Tekin both me and a friend are having a hard time getting the Tekin Hotwire info on both of our computers. But He's getting his computer fixed early next week. Then we'll fix the Tekin.Could be because we both have Windows7 ? But the guy he's taking his computer to can fix that- I hope. Top of page... |

| I found out that the tekin hotwire did take in my computer. But I've got no idea of where I would like to set it.I lowered the boost to 30 and changed it to 2 cell. Trying to find out what the different options would be. Top of page... |

| You have a lot more adjustability with the Tekin software than I do with the CastleLink. The RPM range for boost activation is critical in either case though. Believe it or not what enlightened us was one racer putting a Novak Sentry on his touring car. It told us what the operating RPM range was on a specific track. From that we started to play with the boost range. The common setup was 10 degrees on the motor fixed for both 1s and 2s. For 1s the boost was 3k to 16k and for 2s we run 6k to 32k. We will then vary the amount of timing advance based on the feel and motor temp after 5 minuites.
I run 12.5:1 final drive ratio with a off-road SC tire and a 10.5 Duo. A 30 degree boost with a range of 6.1k to 34k and 10 degrees on the motor. I also have 20% drag brake in the program to make it feel like a brushed motor.
Good luck and lt me know how that Novak works out when you get it. I am looking for a new 1 cell controller. Top of page... |

| Have not heard or seen anything from Novak yet. As for my SC10. I've got most of the things figured out on the hotwire except the start and end RPM. Can't get that to work.Possibly got someone calling me today to help.
The truck is set-up -I think. Here is my present set-up:
100 weight oil on all shocks.
Red springs on all shocks they are lowered.
Frontand rear sway bars- made from .078 wire
24x75 gear ratio.
Possibly going to ball diff? Top of page... |

| Well I got my help the other day with the ESC set-up.As for my truck set-up it has been changed.I left the frontend alone the rearend needed the work. went to no swaybar in the rear- green springs and 60 weight oil.Oh yes I put 10,000 diff oil(losi) in the diff.Truck now works great. Since we have no rules on tires I've now installed Road Hogs on T4 rims.
We also have a new carpet track being built in florida. For both on and off-road (carpet) But it's about 2 1/2 -3 hours away. Top of page... |

| Well here's an update. first the carpet track located just outside of Tampa is having there preopening race tonight for on-road.I won't make that one for awhile.
On my truck - I'm going to orlando sunday ready to go. As for my World GT car it's not here yet but it's supposed to be here next week (Corally 10SL).The new Novak kinetic 1 cell- I'm still waiting on. My first state race with the World GT is Sept.19th.That's about it for now. Top of page... |

| On July 21, Castle had a software update for their SC's which I downloaded. It's been trouble ever since. After several e-mails and a phone call they feel that I am an isolated incident and the victim f circumstance. What happens is the sc will run fine then suddenly stop the motor. The code lights indicate low voltage cutoff but the battery is over 8 volts at the time. They feel either the Deans plugs are bad (possible since they are over a year old) or there has been a failure in the sc. I am going to replace all of the plugs with brand new ones and see if it cures the problem. They did tell me that if it turns out to be the controller they will replace it no charge. That's cool at least but it has been a furstrating couple of weeks.
Good luck trying to beat mother nature. Our first test and tune on the carpet is this Sunday and the first race on week from then. The WGT will be ready and I look forward to racing without the jumps or fighting for traction. Top of page... |

| What car are you running for WGT. I'm still waiting for my Corally 10SL. It's supposed to be in this week?Otherwise the factory is going on vacation so I was told and it will come after that.Still waiting for my Novak 1 esc kinetic. They only thing I've got is a new body to paint for WGT.
As for your plug problem- it sounds questionable to me- I think it's the ESC.As for mother nature she's got me the last two weekends where ever I when. Maybe she's following me?My next race is now September 5th and the state race is Sept 19th.
Let me know about the progress with you ESC- I've got alot of friends using that ESC in SC. Top of page... |

| Bill:
I did a test Friday after changing all of my plugs and downloading the latest firmware (released Thirsday night). My 13.5 ran flawlessly but my 10.5 had issues. It was a new motor that only had a few runs on it. I ran two 45 second laps(big off road track) and it stopped. It is shot and me and my motor guy don't have a clue why it failed. that is the second 10.5 that went poof on that sc after no motor failures in two years.
Saturday I ran a big off-road race and ran 13.5's all day with the new firmware. I only had a couple of issues and I suspect moist dirt around the sensor board was the culprit.
I ran my WGT car Sunday (its a CRC car with a McKune chassis) on the 1-cell Mamba and it ran great. The new firmware makes the motor run more efficently and smoother. I was able to crank up the timing gaining more speed and keep the motor under 130. On my first run using last springs setup my motor was only 110 (it would have been 140 on the old firmware). A couple of new to WGT racers could not believe the speed I had. They were running old school esc's and I could gain 10-15 feet on them on a 80 foot straight. That is huge. Maybe a bigger advantage is the programmable drag brake. I can tume the cars braking to really get into a corner hard without loosing control. that is a real advantage with a wgt car and the spec tires. Top of page... |

| Wow? That's crazy with the 10.5. I'm still waiting for my Corally WGT and my Novak ESC.
Have you tried a single cell and either a 3.5 or 5.5 in the SC truck.sounds realy crazy but it's what several guys are running around hear. It's fast and competitive. Top of page... |
| From: RONMICK |
| Date: 8/20/2010 6:24:00 AM Eastern |
| I ould love to try that but the 10.5 is my strongest motor. I'll check with some of my friends that run open 1/12 scale to see if they have a used 3.5 they would want to sell. I don't know if you have seen one of those rockets go but 28oz. and that power is pretty incredible on the straights. they just sort of skip from turn to turn. Paul Chicarrelo. Arron Buran Steve Radeky and Mike Blackstock are regulars at our carpet track. Mike was there Sunday practicing for Vegas with his WGT 10.5 car. Top of page... |

| On the 10.5 motor in your Sc do you have the timing turned up or the boost on the esc. Maybe run it without boost from the esc?You can see the track these guys run with the 3.5 outdoors. It a big track- RCIS in green cove springs.I don't race there but I've seen the track.
What cars are they using in WGT? I found out my Corally won't get here for two more weeks. Top of page... |

| Bill:
I run the CRC car, there are a couple of Associated and a couple new X-Rays. The X-Rays have only practiced so far but our first race date is Sunday. Last Sunday I was by far the fastest with my 2 year old CRC. I have updated it to a McKune chassis which I highly recommend.
On that 10.5, the motor was at zero timing and the cheat at 20 degrees. Before the firmware updates I was running 10 degrees in the motor and 30 degrees of cheat. My 13.5 runs fine with those last settings. |

| Well my update on my Corally 10SL it has been shipped from Corally land by UPS .It should be here Friday or Monday. They want to build the car so when I go to race next sunday (sept 5th) all Ive got to do is mount the body and hope the Novak esc comes in. Otherwise I'll have to use the Tekin out of my truck.I painted the body yesterday.
On your problem since it's offroad do you even need to run in the cheat mode? Top of page... |
| From: RONMICK |
| Date: 8/26/2010 3:41:00 PM Eastern |
| The cheat mode seems to help. It kills some of the bottom end and lets you have much greater top speed on the straights. Also the new software has a torque limiter to further help drivability. Sometimes I actually drop to a 13.5 with a lot of timing added. Softer bottom end and still great speed on the straights. The cheat mode lets me run against the 6.5 and 8.5s that are becoming more popular outdoors.
The guys at Castle want me to try their hybrid mode. It uses the sensor only to get you moving then switches to sensorless. It is supposed to be much mors efficient. The theory is you can run a larger pinion to make up for the lack of dynamic timing (cheat mode). I will test that Saturday at our club race. Top of page... |

| Date: 8/31/2010 5:50:00 PM Eastern |
| Well how did things turn out. My friend is very interested in the hybrid mode. He's going to get on the forum soon. My new Novak 1c ESC should either be here for this weekend or sometime next week. Top of page... |

| Our racing was canceled due to a low turnout but I got to test all day instead. This speedo still seems to have an occasional problem that I can't diaignose. I have talked to Castle tech support and the final decision was to send it back. I am doing that today.
As far as when it runs right, I still like the CHEAT mode. I couldn't get the same power or top speed in the Smart Sense mode even at equall motor temps. My best profile was 4.0 power setting (current limiter for a loose track) 30 degrees of cheat with a 6.2k to 35k range on that. The motor was a 10.5 Nemisis with its timing set at zero on the end bell. the qearing it 18/86 on the Ultima 2.6 trans and standard short course tires. Top of page... |

| My friend will be reading your post.He runs his SC on Dirt oval- off road and maybe this weekend with me onroad with no jumps.
I got a e-mail from Novak saying they are shipping the new 1 cell esc to distributors this week. I might have mine by Friday to try out Sunday in my WGT.They also said he was going to write a program for windows7 with 32 bits not 64.Looking forward to Friday.
Oh Trintiy is coming out with a new D3 motor at the end of the month. But all my nemisis are running fine.
I'll let you know what happens on friday and sunday. Top of page... |

| Well the whole shipment was held up in Germany by UPS!It's still there. It seems there are some new rules they did not know about. My new Novak is do in on Sept 8-9th.Plus I've been told I have to use long shanked pinions and Corally does not make anything that big in the size I use(42-45 64p). There biggest pinion is 40. So Now I need to go to a smaller spur (used a 88) and All I've got is 76-78-80.
So I've got all my electronics in Orlando with no car kit minus the esc that's coming to me 150 miles away and my first state race on the 19th.Oh and my spare car that is esperimental and only run one time is in Tampa being copied by my friend that is also waiting on his Corally car kit for the same race. I hope you had a better weekend.
I did go to the New local Slot Car track 2 minutes from my house and had the best crash they had ever seen. Oh well? Top of page... |

| I had a fair weekend. It was another carpet race. The last two of those I have been testing motors for Wayne Gerber. He runs 1/12 scale with 17.5s so I test the 13.5s in WGT. The first week was great with one of his motors. The car was extremly fast and the motor was noticably more powerful than my tried and true DUO. This week with a different test motor, not so much. I went back to my DUO for the main and turned the fastest laps in the class of the day but I stuck it on a board at the 4 minuite mark and fell from leading by 2 seconds to trailing by 4. I made up all but .7 by the end. I did a bunch of front end work in practice as the track was a little slick (by carpet standards).
In two weeks I have a major dirt race on Saturday and my next carpet race on Sunday. Top of page... |
